Spotlights

In technical terms, a spotlight is a reflector light that projects a beam of less than 30 degrees (a beam wider than 30 degrees would be produced by a floodlight).

Spotlights may be either surface mounted, track mounted, or part of a central fitting incorporating a number of spotlights. They’re available in a wide variety of finishes, colours and shapes.

The majority of spotlights can be angled or tilted to produce a controlled beam of light that can be directed wherever it’s required, which is why they’re often used as an accent light.

They’re not usually a good choice for bathrooms as their design means they’re vulnerable to splashing water. However, there are a small selection of designs that are available specifically for use in the bathroom.
