We live in a world where buzz words and phrases such as: recyclable, sustainable, biodegradable, energy saving and low carbon footprint define our generation. And rightly so. The planet’s natural resources are being depleted at a catastrophic rate and carbon emissions are destroying the environment. It’s easy to be complacent and it’s understandable to feel hopeless but we can all do our bit and that extends to the interior design products we buy for the home. Eco products can, and do, make a difference to the world we inhabit but they also look damn good too. Let’s take a look at some of the environmentally friendly products on the market right now.

Eco lamps and lampshades

When searching for an eco friendly lamp or eco friendly lampshade check for some ecological credentials such as: is it made from recyclable materials, have the materials been used efficiently and can it be recycled once you’re done with it. Also make sure an energy saving light bulb can be used and where possible find something that’s manufactured in the UK so you know the carbon footprint of transporting it is kept to a minimum.

From a design point of view you’ll find plenty of lamps and lightshades that are inspiring, functional and stylish. They also stand out from the crowd giving your home a real style statement.
